Can you believe this is the last full week in July? The summer always seems to go by so much faster than the other seasons. Maybe it’s because, if you’re a student, you generally have more free time then, or maybe it's because there tends to be more to do during the warmer months. Whatever the reason, we’re sad to see it go so quickly. Luckily, it’s not over yet, and there is still plenty of time to soak up the sun and go to the various summer events lined up in Champaign-Urbana!

The Champaign County Fair began last Friday and will continue this week through the 27th. There will be livestock shows, carnival rides, circus performances, tractor pulls, fair food, and live music all week. Be sure to get your tickets for Friday night’s performances from Dustin Lynch, Dylan Scott, and Jimmie Allen. This year’s fair will be so much fun! It’s worth braving the heat for sure!

If the county fair isn’t for you, don’t fret! There are many other ways to enjoy the summer in Champaign-Urbana. Here are just a few!

Tuesday, July 23rd

Did you know that it’s been 50 years since we landed on the moon? July 21st, 1969 was the day Apollo 11 landed on the moon and Neil Armstrong said the famous words, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Celebrate the anniversary and learn more about the moon landing at The Urbana Free Library. Dave Leake, who recently retired as the director of the Staerkel Planetarium at Parkland College, will share photos of the moon landing and tell some stories about the event. This is a great opportunity to learn a little bit out history and outer space! This event will run from 7 to 8 pm this Tuesday and is free and open to all. For more info about the event, click here
