Hello! Welcome back to another This Week in Town! With the Champaign County Fair, there are plenty of things to do every day this week. However, there are other noteworthy events going on in Champaign-Urbana! Whatever your preference, you’re sure to find something to make this week special.
July 20 – July 28
The Champaign County Fair will be going on through this Saturday. Every day there will be rides and livestock shows, and on July 27th Trace Atkins will perform. If you haven’t been to the fair before, definitely check it out! Nothing feels more like summer than walking around the neon lit fairgrounds with a lemon shake-up. Get the full fair schedule here!
Tuesday, July 24th
After Hours will be playing at the Iron Post this Tuesday at 7pm. Playing a variety of rock covers, this band is one to check out. Thursday, July 27th
Harvest Market is hosting an essential oils class this Thursday and next from 6 to 7pm. Essential oils are really big in the health world and are proving to be more than just the latest health trend. This is a great way to introduce yourself to oils and see how they can help you and be added to your daily routine. Learn more about the event here!
Friday, July 27th
The Pygmalion Festival will be hosting a free panel: Future of Tech in C-U. The guest speakers include Rachel Switzky, Director of Siebel Center for Design, Laura Frerichs, Director of University of Illinois Research Park, Rhiannon Clifton, Site Director of Huawei Technologies, and Carly McCrory, Assistant Director of Champaign County Economic Development Corporation. These women will be speaking on the future of technology in the Champaign-Urbana area. The panel will be at 51 Main, and will run from 8 to 9 pm. Learn more about this exciting evening here.
Saturday, July 28th
Menu’s by Misty Michelle is hosting a fitness bootcamp for EIU student, Jabari Freeman. This is a fun event and a great way to shake up your weekend workout! Sunday, July 29th
Join the Champaign Public Library for their Sunday concert featuring the talented singer, songwriter, and guitarist Kayla Brown. Kayla is known for her soft, soulful indie music. This is a delightful way to spend your Sunday afternoon. She will be preforming from 2 to 3pm! More information here.
