Hello again, and welcome to another installment of This Week In Town! Last Thursday marked the first official day of summer. Of course that means the summer is half way over, and the new semester is on its way. Let’s not waste a moment more of all that this summer has to offer. There are so many awesome events to check out in the Champaign-Urbana area, so go out and make the most of it!
Monday, June 25th, join the Champaign Movie Makers at the Art Theater for their 10 Years of CMM Screening. This is a truly unique event, as it showcases local filmmakers’ work, from short horror films, to films written by children, to projects completed in just 48 hours. The Champaign Public Library is hosting another session in their Fit and Fabulous summer workshop series: Tasty and Healthy on a Budget. Tuesday, June 26th, join Emily DuPuis, head chef at Harvest Market – Champaign, for a lesson on how to shop for and prepare healthy meals on a budget. Get inspired and learn new skills to improve your diet and keep your wallet happy. This event starts at 10 am at the library, and there will be free refreshments! For more info, click right here.
Cardio and making music? Join Alto Vineyards Champaign for a cardio jam session Thursday, June 28th, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Get a full body workout in a new way by playing the drums. As well as a workout lesson, Alto Vineyards is including 10% off a glass of wine with tickets for the class. Grab some friends and try it out! For a fun Friday night, look no further than Memphis on Main. Jordan and Jill, the fantastic duo who cover rock and country songs from the 60’s to now, will be preforming at Memphis on Main from 10 pm to 1 am. Magic and laughs at the Champaign Public Library! This Saturday, June 30th, stop by at 3 pm to behold magician and comedy juggler, Troy Roark preform his hilariously dazzling show. Sunday, July 1st, Spurlock Museum in Urbana will be having a celebration of all things celestial. Spurlock Time Machine: Sun, Moon, Stars, and Planets will commence at 1pm and conclude at 3:30 pm. There will be a gallery tour, folklore storytelling, and a presentation by Dave Leake from Parkland’s Staerkel Planetarium. What a wonderful way to spend the first day of July.
