This week is full of fun events from flamingo dancing to a flannel festival. It’s finally feeling like fall, so make some time to get out there and enjoy the new, cooler weather! (Goodbye, 90 degrees). On Tuesday, CPM will be at the UIUC Housing Fair at the Illini Union from 11am to 2pm. Stop by our table to get some free stuff and learn more about our new prices and next year’s availability. We’d love to see you there! Tuesday, October 8th

Have you ever heard of Inktober? I hadn’t until this year, but it’s a month (October, if that wasn’t clear before) dedicated to drawing something everyday! Well, Cafeteria & Company is the spot to be if you’re interested in getting better at drawing, learning to draw, or just to want meet and hang out with other artsy people and see what Inktober is all about. There will be drawing prompts that you can use or not use for inspiration! This event is from 7 to 9 pm and is open to everyone. Check out the event page for more info!

Wednesday, October 9th

See the Fighting Illini Volleyball team face off against Minnisota this Wednesday night at Huff Hall. This will be an exciting game! Go out to support the team. It’s also Pride night at Huff Hall, so there will be several specials going on to celebrate the LQBTQ+ community. There will be giveaways and raffles! The game starts at 8 pm. Thursday, October 10th

See renowned Flamenco guitarist David Chiriboga perform for The Illinois Flamenco-Jazz Project. This is a night of live Flamenco dancing and music. Chiriboga will be joined by singer Patricia Ortega, along with students of Illinois Jazz Studies performing traditional Flamenco music. See the marvelous dancer, Malu, perform with the musicians. Friday, October 11th

The most fall event is back: get ready for the Flannel Fest! Friday from 5 to 9 pm, visit Hessle Park to witness all the flannel clad activities you could dream of. They will have live music all night, as well as competitions of axe throwing, log rolling, tree climbing, speed carving, mustache growing, and a Lumberjack Dash. Be sure to stop by to see the Timberwork's Lumberjack Show to be wowed by the insane woodworking stunts! Food will be available from many different food trucks around the park. This event is free and definitely worth it to stop by and check out the festivities! Learn more here

Saturday, October 12th

Dance your heart out at Krannert this Saturday evening at their Latin Dance Night! Krannert’s lobby will be transformed into a dance club with reggaeton, bachata, cumbia, salsa, merengue, and many more styles of music. This free event is made possible by La Casa Cultural Latina. Grab your dancing shoes and join in the fun from 9:30 to 11 pm. Learn more about this special event here!

Sunday, October 13th

Pretend like you’re in Downton Abbey and visit Walnut Street Tea Co. for their free tea tasting event! They have a large variety of seasonal teas available for sampling and a few snacks, as well. If you’ve never been to this cozy tea shop, now is the perfect time. With fall in full swing and winter on its way, take the opportunity to stock up on tea to get you through the colder months.
