July is here! Chamapaign-Urbana has so much going on this week to celebrate the Fourth of July. Fireworks, live music, and more are just some of what CU has to offer. Let's take a look at some of the spectacular events happening this week in town!

Tuesday, July 2nd

The Asian American Culture Center is kicking their Summer Food for Thought series off this Tuesday from noon to 1 pm. There will be events every Tuesday this month, so if you miss this week, you'll have other chances to go. This week, "Jazmyne Kellogg, Assistant Director of the Bruce D. Nesbitt African American Cultural Center will be presenting, 'The Model Minority Myth: Intersections between African and Asian Cultures.'" For more info, click here!

Thursday, July 4th

There are a barrage of ways to celebrate the Fourth of July in Champaign-Urbana, and here are just a few!

Champaign County Freedom Celebration- Youth Run/5K Race/Walk will take place at the State Farm Center with the Youth Run beginning at 8:30 am, and the 5K Race/Walk starting at 9:05 am. Cheer on the runners or join in! You can register or learn more here.

Sholem Aquatic Center will be having free contests and face-painting along with concession stand specials from 11 am to 7 pm. For more info and times, click here! This year marks the 70th Year of Champaign County Freedom Celebration! There are several events throughout the day. The parade will begin at 11:05 am near First and Kirby and end at Goodwin Ave. For full map and viewing spots, click here. At 7 pm, Wreckless Whiskey will be preforming on the main stage on Kirby Ave. between First and Oak St. The fireworks will begin at 9:10 pm! For the full list of events, follow this link.

Friday, July 5th

The Rosebowl Tavern is having live bands and free popcorn for Urbana 1st Fridays. Inland Calypso will play at 5 pm. The Merry Travelers at 8 p.m. and at 10 p.m. Dragon Karaoke with Paul Faber! The Red Herring will be there, as well, offering vegan pub food! For more details, click here.

Sunday, July 7th

Join the Art Coop in Urbana for their 2nd annual Art Coop Clothing Swap. Bring the clothes that you no long want or need to give them a second life with someone else.
