Whether you're feeling brave or just looking for a fun night listening to live, local talent, Open Mic Night at the Canopy Club is a not-so-boring way to end a boring Monday. This event starts at 8 p.m. and runs until 2 a.m. This is a FREE event if you're over 21, and $3 if you're not quite that old.

Wednesday, June 26th

Reward yourself for making it half-way through the week with a movie night. Savoy 16 is showing the 80's classic, Dirty Dancing. See the iconic dance moves and eighties' style in the Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey led film. This Wednesday, catch the 2 or 7 p.m. showing. "Nobody puts Baby in a corner." Sorry, I had to.

Thursday, June 27th

Twilight Concerts have been around since 1911! Listen to over 90 musicians play a variety of classical tunes on the UIUC Main Quad. This hour long event is FREE and begins at 7 p.m. Be sure to bring a blanket or lawn-chair to better enjoy the evening.

Friday, June 28th

Visit the Japan House for their last event of the summer (they'll be closed July and August), Street Food & Sake! Sample authentic Japanese street food from four food stations while sipping a signature sake cocktail. This event will take place from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

After you've had your fill of Japanese street food, enjoy an evening walk at Meadowbrook Park. The Urbana Park District is hosting a night where you can learn about the tiny creatures that light up summer nights along with other nocturnal animals. Firefly Foray will be held from  7:45 to 9 p.m. Friday evening.

Saturday, June 29th

Eat ice cream and help the community at Common Ground Food Co-op! This annual event donates to the Eastern Illinois Foodbank, with the goal of providing 10,000 meals to those in need. Help out by enjoying delicious ice cream and vegan gelato from Red Bicycle Ice Cream and Kilgus Farmstead. There will be face painting, bubbles, and a sundae station where you can put your own spin on ice cream. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday.
