Image may contain: one or more people, night and shoes Here is another cultural event, this one takes place at the Krannert Art Museum and you will hear music, view art, and experience dance performers as they share their culture from Northern India. This event will have multiple performers so you will get to see a variety of styles! This is an exciting opportunity! "Join us for a music and dance performance in the classical Indian tradition, inspired by artwork on view in "From Hand to Hand: Painting and the Animation of History in Northern India" at Krannert Art Museum. Krannert Art Museum welcomes students from the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (Spicmacay Illinois), who have created original music and dance that relates to the stories and paintings on view at KAM. Visitors will enjoy vocal and dance performances as well as a variety of instrumental performances, including on the violin, bamboo flute, tabla and mridangam. The students will showcase various forms of Indian Classical Art Forms including both Carnatic and Hindustani styles as well as live music for the dance performances. Performers include Janani Comar, Anwesa Choudhuri, @Pranav Ghatraju, Vedhus Hoskere, Manohar Karigerasi, Arjun Raghavan, Aniket Ravan, Aravind Sagar, Maitreyee Sharma, and Sathvik Tejaswi. About Spicmacay Illinois Our organization is dedicated to bringing world class Indian Classical Music/Performing arts to the campus community. Indian Classical Music, both North Indian and South Indian, Vocal and Instrumental and Classical Arts. Artists are invited to perform for the benefit of the students and community members of UIUC and Urbana-Champaign. In order to increase the outreach of SPICMACAY, the members organize jam sessions every alternate Saturday from 2-5 PM in Illini Union and everyone is welcome. To initiate enthusiastic students in Indian Art Forms, members trained for over a decade organize workshops every Saturday which is also open to all. Apart from this, SPICMACAY organizes student concerts and performances in collaboration with other Centers on campus to promote these arts. The SPICMACAY facebook page is very active and all the events are always up to date. Seriously though this is something you should check out and enjoy the robots that have been designed by multiple engineering groups and see how they fight each other in the ring, only one Robo can win the Brawl! The event consists of a double elimination tournament over the two days of Engineering Open House (3/8/2019 - 3/9/2019) where each team battles for dominance. The current format consists of 30 pound combat robots fighting in a 16′ x 16′ arena. Our event encourages inter-disciplinary engineering collaboration in order to challenge all comers in both design and manufacturing skill.
