Welcome back to another This Week in Town! The temperature is up, but don’t let that stop you from going out and enjoying all Champaign-Urbana has to offer this week. There are many great events going on that you won’t want to miss. Here are just a few highlights from all the events going on in town.

As we near the first day of summer, the heat has insured we can’t forget it. Luckily, Jarling’s Custard Cup and Champaign County Crime Stoppers have a solution. Tuesday, June 19th, Allerton Park will be having a Wildflower Walk and Pollinator Documentary. The walk will take place at the Music Barn Trailhead at 5 pm, and the documentary will be shown at the Allerton Mansion Library at 7 pm. If you’ve never been to Allerton, now is the perfect time. The gardens are in bloom and there is no better time for late afternoon hiking. Also, the documentary is sure to be informative and interesting. The Working Women’s Expo is back! This Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at the IHotel and Conference Center join the Illini Radio Group as they host this yearly event where you can learn business tips while having a great time. There will be over 100 businesses exhibits as well as games, prizes, and the chance to speak with many successful women in the community. This year, there will be a game show at the event! Join the C-U Comedy Club on Friday, June 22nd, from 8:30 to 10 pm for a hilarious experience. Comedian Chris Schlichting is back in town and will be performing! His last two shows here were sold out, so purchase your tickets soon. At only $10 a ticket, this really is an amazing deal. Laugh your way into the weekend. This Saturday, grab your chef’s hat and head to Common Ground Food Co-op for their Thai cooking class. Learn from an experienced cook how to prepare Pad Thai. There will be meat and vegetarian options, so this is perfect for anyone wanting to learn how to cook something new. Tickets are available at Eventbrite.com or at the store. End your weekend with some soul. At Blackbird Urbana, there will be a tribute to 80’s and 90’s RNB on Sunday. Starting at 7 pm, there will be music, comedy, and poetry as well as drinks and Manolo’s Pizza and Empanadas. A night of laughs and nostalgia, this is one not to miss! More information right here.
