Another week in cold winters grasp, but this time, we have Cupid’s arrow flitting about! There are countless fundraisers out there, couples deals, and artistic opportunities.
UIUC Stress Management Peers is encouraging all of us to give a random act of kindness, seeing as love isn’t always just about significant others. They are also providing free stress balls to those who stop by tomorrow, which is a random act of kindness on their part! Give a hug to a friend, compliment a stranger (e.g. nice hair or great t-shirt, nothing creepy please!), help someone load groceries in a car or open a few extra doors. Be king this week!
“Join SMP this week in spreading kindness and positivity throughout campus! Come say hi to us on 2/12 from 7-9 pm at the Illini Union to receive a free stress ball!”
This may be a good date, instead of seeing one show or movie, take them to see Oscar Nominees Short Films! The Art Theater is showing these shorts over multiple days, and many of them sound awesome! If I was more free I would be hitting this up, short films are so much fun and a great way to see upcoming talent.

Here is a romantic event, herbal smells, chocolate, and tea, this sounds about as romantic as you can get, but also really relaxing. I love me some lavender, always helps me relax after and during a paper assignment. Go disover some amazing scents!
“Celebrate Valentine’s Day with your honey, bestie or treat yourself to some herbal LOVE! This class is designed to stimulate all of your senses using some familiar, and some not so familiar, herbs. We’ll learn about herbal aphrodisiacs that you can taste, smell and feel while making something special to take home. You can create a customized massage oil OR a lavender eye pillow. All materials will be provided. In addition, I’ll be serving chocolate herbal Zoom balls and a special Valentine’s Day herbal tea! I hope to see you at this class and share the nourishing, heart-opening, energizing, power of herbs with YOU!”
Ice Skating, raffles, and fundraising for the American Heart Association? Sounds platonically romantic, seeing as they are encouraging friends and couples to come to this event. Sounds like a phenomenal time, a no pressure event for blossoming romances.

Dancing is romantic, I don’t care what people say, learn how to dance a classic couple’s dance and hit up Kam’s with some swing dancing or Fox-Trot, Salsa can apply to a lot of latino pop music, it’s fun, it’s impressive, and once you learn the basic steps it isn’t that hard. This is a beginners Swing Dance class and I highly encourage that couples check it out!
“Jazz tunes got you tapping your toes? Learn basic and intermediate swing dance moves and go from toe tapping to getting out on the dance floor! Session 1 (January 27-February 24) is for beginners with no previous experience. Session 2 (March 10-April 14) is Intermediate Swing where you’ll learn more intricate moves, cool dips and tricks, musicality, and dance creativity.
