The world is collectively holding its breath to see who will be the next president of the United States. After the year we've had, we're all a bit stressed, to say the least. No matter who wins, everyone could use some self-care to get them through the next few days. This week, we're putting together a DIY Survival Kit for after the election! Some comfort foods and funny movies are definitely in order.

Customize your survival repository to suit your preference, of course, and let us know how you've been coping with this highly stressful political climate. Let's get started!

Cozy Clothes

First thing's first. Get comfy! It is nonsensical to be wearing any type of uncomfortable clothing when there is so much to deal with. Forget jeans, button-ups, or shoes for that matter, and bedeck yourself with fuzzy socks, sweaters, and your favorite pair of sweats or leggings.

Snacks

I'm not sure about you, but when I'm nervous, I need to be munching on something. Popcorn is my vice for times such as these. Try to have some of your favorite snacks on hand to enjoy and nervously consume.

Games

Take a break from social media and the news to play a board game or cards with friends! It's a good way to pass the time and is just the thing to take your mind off what's going on in the world. I highly recommend Chameleon or What Do You Meme?

Comedy

At the risk of sounding cliche, laughter is the best medicine. According to HelpGuide.org, "good, hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress, leaving your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes after. Laughter boosts the immune system. Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease." Try turning on a stand-up special, playing a comedy podcast, or watching a funny movie. If you need a mood improvement, this is a good way to do it!

Animals

Okay, this goes without saying, but baby animals can make anyone feel better. If you have a pet, snuggle them extra long today, and if you don't, we have you covered. Check out these TikTok complication videos of adorable pets! It will make you feel better, I promise.
